Meet Our Counselors
Meet the amazing and dedicated Brewer Island Elementary School wellness team! Students can reach out to their counselors for questions, guidance, and support.
School psychologists may provide support and consultation to teachers and parents of students experiencing learning and/or behavior problems. Students with an Individual Education Program who exhibit the need for a higher level of care may be recommended to receive Educationally-Related Mental Health Services. Please contact the SMFC Student Services Department for additional information or support at (650) 312-7341.
Nicholas "Nick" Maldonado |
My name is Nicholas Maldonado, but on campus I’m known as Mr. Nick. This is my first year as a counselor, and I am so excited to be working at Brewer Island Elementary School! Between 2018 - 2022, I graduated from CSU Stanislaus with a bachelor’s degree in psychology, a master's degree in education, and a credential in pupil personnel services. During those four years, I was a full time student, track and field athlete, and I worked as a yard duty for a local elementary school. For my fieldwork hours, I worked at two elementary schools in Ceres, as well as a local high school in Turlock. Here at Brewer Island, I work with everyone. I work with students to help them develop their social, emotional, and academic skills. I help our teachers to deliver Social Emotional Lessons through our Second Step Program. I also work with parents to figure out what kind of support their student needs. Students can request a check in with Mr. Nick, or Mr. Mark, if they are in need of support. Check-ins are available to all, and can be requested by students, teachers, or parents. Check-ins are not therapy services, they are brief and solution focused. (What can we do within our control?) |
